The Learning Technology Group at Western is a new effort by Academic Technology and User Services, working with the Center for Instructional Innovation and Assessment to engage faculty in implementing and evaluating new technologies for teaching.

We will gather faculty members who are enthused about the use of technology in education, both online and in person, to discuss best practices. We will act as a "user group" for faculty who use Blackboard, but also other technologies for learning - classroom clickers, social media, free and open source Web-based tools, and more. Our group will have an online presence that includes community features such as discussions, blog posts about technology in teaching at Western, Blackboard issues to be aware of, and new tools that may be of interest.

Your participation is the key to making this a vital and useful resource for Western faculty!

Our first meeting will be held this Thursday, February 10th, in VU 567, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM. Coffee and tea will be available. The agenda on Thursday will include reviewing the results of our Technologies for Teaching survey, discussing your innovations and ideas, and finding out more about the technologies you're interested in using with your students.

We hope faculty will enjoy getting together with peers to discuss the use of technology in teaching, in their classrooms and beyond.
